The Perch.
A restored 1970s mud-brick home in the Bangalow hinterland, shaped by reclaimed timber, hand-laid brick and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
Bangalow, New South Wales · Property From Australia
Its architecture is simple and grounded, allowing material, landscape and everyday life to define the character of the home. Brick, reclaimed timber and an old timber shed on the property carry the same restraint through to the smaller details — the ceramics on a shelf, tools set down on a bench, a bottle left on a concrete ledge.
The result is a home that reads as considered rather than styled: a property where the landscape, the materials and the pace of life outside Bangalow are allowed to set the tone.
"Australia, seen through the places we create."
Outside, the property keeps to the same register — a fire pit, an outdoor shower, a freestanding bath, all set against brick and timber rather than staged against it. Little here is announced; most of it is simply used.
