Editorial standards

Stories before noise.

Property From Australia is independently curated. We publish selectively, credit the people behind the work and keep editorial decisions separate from commercial relationships.

These standards guide how we select, present and attribute the stories, places, projects and people featured across Property From Australia.

The standards

01

Quality over quantity

We would rather publish fewer things worth remembering than fill the platform for the sake of volume.

Editorial relevance, originality, quality and lasting interest come before posting frequency.

02

Real work. Real places.

We prioritise genuine Australian places, properties, projects, businesses and original photography.

Published work should represent real people, real places, real projects and credible stories — not generic filler.

03

Credit the people behind the work

Architects, builders, designers, photographers, makers and contributors are properly recognised.

Where a creator’s details have been provided to us, we credit them, and we honour specific credit wording we have been asked to use. Where a platform’s format does not allow a visible credit on the item itself, we place the credit in the accompanying caption or description. If we get a credit wrong or leave one out, tell us and we will correct it.

04

Sources matter

External stories and imagery are properly attributed.

We aim to identify original sources and clearly credit externally supplied or referenced material. Third-party work is never presented as our own.

05

Editorial and commercial remain distinct

Editorial inclusion is considered separately from collaboration and is never guaranteed or available for purchase.

Collaboration does not automatically result in coverage, commercial relationships do not determine editorial selection, and editorial decisions remain independently curated.

06

Submissions are considered, not guaranteed

Anyone can submit. What we publish is selected by us.

Submissions may come from owners, architects, builders, developers, designers, photographers, brands, businesses, makers, founders, creatives and others. Every submission is considered individually; submission does not guarantee publication.

07

Accuracy matters

We aim to publish information that is clear, credible and properly represented.

Names, locations, project details, credits and material facts are checked where reasonably possible before publication.

08

Context over hype

We prefer substance over promotional language.

We describe work in an editorial voice rather than reproducing marketing claims, and avoid exaggerated, unverified or overly promotional language.

09

Originality matters

We look for a reason to publish, not simply a reason to post.

Stories should offer something worth seeing, understanding or remembering, whether through design, place, craftsmanship, cultural relevance, transformation, people or ideas.

10

Corrections + updates

When something material is wrong, we should correct it.

Published material may be updated where credible new information, attribution corrections or factual errors are identified.

Selection

What earns attention.

Editorial selection is based on the overall strength and relevance of the story rather than a rigid checklist. When we consider a story, we look at things like:

  • relevance to property, place, architecture, design, business or culture
  • originality
  • quality of the work
  • strength of photography or visual material
  • credibility of the information
  • significance of the people or project involved
  • interest to the Property From Australia audience
  • whether the story adds something genuinely worth documenting

Imagery

Photography matters.

Photography is central to how Property From Australia documents places, projects and people. We prefer real photography, original or properly supplied, credited appropriately and presented without misleading edits.

Supplied imagery is labelled where appropriate, for example Photography · Supplied, and imagery should respect the integrity of the place, project and subject it represents.

Attribution

Credit where it belongs.

Property From Australia aims to recognise the people behind the work: the photographer, architect, designer, builder, developer, stylist, creative team, business, contributor or source publication, where relevant and known.

The work should not become detached from the people who made it.

Independence

Editorial is not for sale.

Editorial inclusion is considered separately from collaboration and is never guaranteed or available for purchase.

Paid or commercial relationships do not determine editorial selection. Sponsored or commercial content is clearly distinguished where applicable. Collaborations can exist without editorial coverage, and editorial coverage can exist without a commercial relationship.

Submissions

Open to everyone.
Selected editorially.

Anyone can submit work for consideration. Every submission is reviewed individually, and publication is based on editorial relevance, originality and quality.
